757 Waterfront (757waterfront.com) is operated by Nautical Precision LLC, a Virginia company. This page explains what information the site collects and how it is used.
What we collect
If you use the contact form or email us: your name, email address and whatever you write in your message. We use this only to reply to you.
If you’re a contractor and use our listing request form: on our For Contractors page we collect your business name, contact name, email, phone, website, social media links, Virginia contractor license number, services, service areas and business description. We use it to check your license with the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), to confirm your details by calling a phone number listed publicly for your business, and to create or update your listing. The business details shown on a listing (such as your business name, phone, email, website, services and service areas) are published on the site. Your contact name is not published unless you ask us to include it.
If you ask for a branded checklist: realtors, lenders and inspectors can ask for a free copy of our checklists with their own name and contact details on it. We use the name, title, company, phone, email and photo or logo you send only to make that copy for you.
If you’re a business we reach out to: we sometimes email realtors, inspectors, lenders and contractors using contact details they publish for their business, to share our free checklists or a listing. Every email says how to stop receiving them, and we honor those requests.
When you browse the site: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site running and secure.
You do not need to give us any information to browse the directory or contact a contractor.
Visitor statistics: we use Burst Statistics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that runs on our own website, to count page visits and clicks on contractor phone numbers and websites. It does not use cookies, does not identify you personally, and the data is not shared with advertisers or other companies.
Spam filtering: messages sent through our forms may be checked by Akismet, a spam filtering service from Automattic, to keep spam out.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
- We do not pass your information to contractors. If you contact a contractor, you do so directly.
- We do not use advertising trackers.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the services that run the site for us, and only as needed for them to do that job: our website hosting (WordPress hosting from Porkbun, which runs on WP Cloud from Automattic), our email provider (Porkbun) and Akismet spam filtering. Our site is connected to Google Search Console, which shows us which Google searches lead to the site; that report covers searches in general and doesn’t include information about you. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights or safety of our visitors, contractors or ourselves.
Cookies
The site may use small cookies needed for it to work properly, for example to remember settings or keep the site secure. We do not use cookies for advertising.
Links to other websites
The directory links to contractors’ own websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don’t control.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and listing requests only as long as we need them to reply, keep your listing accurate, and keep normal business records. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we have, including secure (HTTPS) connections and two step sign in for our site’s admin account. No website can promise perfect security, but we keep what we collect to a minimum.
Children
757 Waterfront is a resource for adult homeowners, realtors and contractors. It isn’t directed to children.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, delete or get a copy of any information you’ve sent us, including Virginia residents’ rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act. Contractors can ask us to update or remove their listing at any time. Email info@757waterfront.com.
